Think of a reason why you want to quit smoking. For instance, you want to look younger, you’re afraid of lung cancer, you don’t want your family and friends to inhale the smoke. Just think of a reason that could motivate you to finally stop your addiction.

Try to inform your friends and family that you are trying to quit smoking. Their support could make a big difference. To increase your chance to quit smoking, try to combine counseling with nicotine-replacement therapy. Joining a support group or talking to a counselor is also a great idea.

Find a substitute for your nicotine. Nicotine-replacement therapy can help minimize your cravings for cigarettes. Try nicotine gums, patches, and lozenges. Research shows that using this therapy can increase the chance of finally quitting your addiction. However, avoid using these products while you’re still smoking.

Eat healthy. Research suggests that eating low-fat dairy products, fruits, and vegetables make cigarettes taste bad.

Relax and control your stress. Stress is often the reason why people tend to smoke. In order to manage your stress try listening to music, meditate, or get a massage.

Clean the house in order to get rid of that familiar smell and sight of ashtrays. Smelling or seeing anything connected to smoking could trigger you to smoke again.

Get involve with physical activities. When you get the urge to light up a cigarette, try to go out and walk the dog or even do some simple exercises. Not only will this help you quit smoking, but can also help you loss those unwanted pounds.

Never stop trying to quit smoking. It is common that you might not get it on the first try. Just try again and get motivated. Set a particular date wherein you would try to finally stop it.

Treat yourself after successfully quitting your addiction. Most smokers never realize how much money they could save by not buying cigarettes. So spend a part of that savings to reward youself.

The nerves branch from your spine. They control some body functions, such as the closing of blood vessels. A problem with these nerves can affect blood flow. Symptoms are often felt in the hands or feet. They may hurt, burn, feel cold, or be tender to the touch.

Sympathetic Ganglions

The sympathetic nervous system is controlled by bunches of nerves called ganglions. One large ganglion, called the stellate ganglion, helps control nerves in the upper body. In the lower body, nerves are controlled by several ganglions that make up the sympathetic chain.

A sympathetic nerve block is a special test. It helps your doctor find the cause of your symptoms. During the test, medication is injected near your spine. This “blocks” the sympathetic nerves in that region. If these nerves are causing your problem, the injection will relieve your symptoms. Therefore the patient is able to tolerate physical therapy and proceed toward recovery.
